Euro Betting: North Macedonia vs Netherlands, 21 June
Final Group Games | Group C | Amsterdam
Their Euros So Far
In their first foray into a Euro finals, North Macedonia have found it hard-going. An opening defeat to Austria (albeit with their first Euro goal), followed by a narrow loss to Ukraine (and their second Euro goal) means they are sadly eliminated as they go into their final group game. For the Netherlands, it’s been the opposite, winning both group games and already through to the next round, joining Italy as the only countries to do so at the time of writing.
North Macedonia Permutations
The permutations have already fallen into place for the North Macedonians, with their first Euros now over in terms of progression to the knockout stages. Though we are sure they will still be aiming to finish on a high before returning home.
Netherlands Permutations
For the Dutch, they are sitting pretty in an unassailable position top of Group C. It doesn’t matter about this result in terms of tournament progress, more a game where they could either rest players, or test out new formations and tactics ahead of their confirmed last 16 qualification.
Past Meetings
This game will be the first time the two nations have faced each other in 12 years. All four of their meetings have come in World Cup qualifying games; in the 2006 preliminaries, both sides played out two draws, with North Macedonia having to come back from two goals down in the first tie, followed by a goalless stalemate in the second.
For the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, the Dutch pulled off a comfortable 2-1 away victory, followed by a 4-0 win on home soil, as they qualified as group winners with a maximum points haul.
So, will North Macedonia finish their Euro with a flourish? Or will the Netherlands remain ruthless to the end?
